Who we are

AyaMood is a mood journal made by AyaSoftware. This page explains what the app stores, where it goes, and the choices you have.

What you record

When you check in, AyaMood saves your mood, the activities you select, an optional note, the date and time, and, if you choose to add them, how you slept and the weather. It also saves the custom activities and habit goals you create. This is the information you give the app on purpose, plus your Google account details if you choose to sign in; we do not collect anything else about you.

Cycle tracking (optional)

Cycle tracking is off until you turn it on in Settings. If you do, AyaMood saves the period start and end dates you log and an on/off setting, in the same cloud journal as your check-ins, and uses them to estimate cycle phases and show your mood by phase on your own device. This is health-related information, so we keep it separate from check-ins: it is never sent to the AI service or to advertisers, and it is only read when tracking is on. You can turn tracking off at any time, delete all your cycle data in Settings without affecting your check-ins, or delete everything by deleting your account. Phases are estimates for reflection, not medical advice or a way to avoid or plan pregnancy.

How it is stored

Your entries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, a cloud database run by Google, so they can be shown again when you reopen the app. By default the app signs you in anonymously: you get a random account ID instead of a name or email address. If you choose to back up your journal, you can sign in with Google in Settings. This links your Google account to the same journal, and AyaMood then holds your Google account ID, name, email address and profile picture link, received from Google Sign-In, so your entries can be restored on a new phone. We request only that basic profile information from Google and do not use your name or picture inside the app. Security rules allow only your own account to read or change your entries. Your entries are not stored only on your device.

Weather detection

Adding weather is optional. If you tap Detect, the app asks for permission to read your approximate location once, sends rounded coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service to get the current conditions, and saves only the condition (for example "Rainy"). Your coordinates are not saved by AyaMood. You can decline the permission and choose the weather yourself.

On your device

Your reminder choices and times, your colour theme, any custom mood names and icons you set, app lock settings (a PIN is stored only as a salted hash), cached purchase status, and whether you have seen the welcome screens, are kept on your device. Daily reminders are notifications scheduled on your device; they do not send your entries anywhere.

AI Insights

AI Insights is optional and available only with an active AI subscription. When you ask for an overview, AyaMood sends the dates, mood scores, activities, sleep choices and weather choices recorded for that month to a third-party AI provider through an AyaMood server. The provider is Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI, depending on the service in use at the time. Written notes are never included. The provider processes this information to generate the overview and handles it under its own API terms and privacy policy, which describe how long API data is retained. AyaMood temporarily caches generated overviews in Firestore to limit repeated AI requests.

Ads and purchases

The free version of AyaMood shows ads from Google AdMob. We ask for non-personalized ads only, so ads are not chosen from your interests or past activity. AdMob may still collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and general device information to deliver and measure ads, limit how often you see them, and prevent fraud, as described in Google's advertising policies. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK) you are asked for your consent, and you can change your choice later in Settings. Your moods, notes, sleep and weather are never shared with advertisers.

Ads are removed in two ways: a one-time ad-removal purchase, or automatically while you have an active AI Insights subscription. The one-time purchase removes Google AdMob ads only and does not include AI Insights. AI Insights is offered as an auto-renewing weekly, monthly or annual subscription. Payments are processed by Google Play on Android and by the Apple App Store on iPhone; AyaMood never sees your card or payment details. The app and AyaMood server receive purchase identifiers and subscription status so access can be verified.

Crash reports

If AyaMood crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains the technical details of the error (such as the code location and stack trace), your device model, operating system and app version, and a random installation ID. It never contains your entries, notes, cycle dates or account details. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.

What we do not do

AyaMood does not sell your information, does not share your entries with advertisers, and does not run analytics or tracking tools; crash reports are the only diagnostics it sends. Written notes are not sent to the AI service.

Keeping and deleting your data

Entries stay until you delete them. Deleting an entry in the app removes it from the database.

If you only use the anonymous account, reinstalling the app or switching phones creates a new account, and entries saved under the old one can no longer be opened from the app. Signing in with Google in Settings backs up your journal so it can be restored.

Export: in Settings you can export your check-ins, habits and (if you turned on cycle tracking) cycle dates as CSV files, or create a PDF report of a period you choose, with or without your written notes and, if you opt in, cycle phases. The files are created on your device and go only where you choose to share them.

Delete: in Settings you can delete your account and all of its data. This permanently removes your entries, habits, cycle dates, settings, saved AI overviews and subscription record from our servers, and cannot be undone. It does not cancel a subscription; manage subscriptions in Google Play on Android or in your Apple account settings on iPhone. You can also ask us to delete your data, or to send you a copy, on the account deletion page or using the contact details below.

Not medical advice

AyaMood is a journal for noticing patterns. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and insights show what was recorded together, not what caused a mood. If you are struggling, please reach out to a health professional or a local crisis line.

Children

AyaMood is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how AyaMood handles your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
